ACT programs develop students' civic leadership capacities by pushing them to integrate and apply knowledge and skills learned in the classroom in a variety of experiential settings, from public policy research with the City of Houston and public health research in India to mentored internships with biotech start-ups in Boston and direct service with NGOs in Salta, Argentina. These programs demand the integration of academic and community knowledge, foster skills in collaboration and communication with diverse stakeholders, and require weekly reflection. The CCL staff provides training and coaching throughout the course of these programs in order to ensure that students leave these programs with the confidence and motivation to identify and and take action on complex issues in society.
