The mission of the Center for Civic Leadership is to educate Rice undergraduates to achieve more just and equitable communities. We stand with members of our Black community to quell the forces that seek to divide us, to silence the voices that invoke bigotry and hate, and to transform the structures that perpetuate oppression. We are angered by the heinous acts of violence against black men and women, such as the recent killings of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and Breonna Taylor. We are grounded in critical hope, in a belief that a new order is possible. Black Lives Matter.
