Moody Civic Immersion is a student-led program for first-year undergraduate students interested in exploring social issues in Houston and understanding how to leverage their Rice education for public purpose. Students who are passionate about serving their communities develop skills to make an impact in Houston and beyond.
 

Moody Civic Immersion

Moody Civic Immersion (formerly Urban Immersion / Civic Owlets) is a summer program coordinated by the CCL that introduces incoming students (both first years and transfers) to the principles of civic leadership, ethical community engagement, and the City of Houston. The guiding mission of the program is to foster the growth of informed and passionate advocates for social justice through community-based learning, critical service, and reflection.

Moody Civic Immersion: Late Departure

Moody Civic Immersion: Late Departure is an immersive, experiential learning opportunity for students to wrap up their first year at Rice with a reflection on how they might engage in civic leadership activities going forward. The program is led by current Rice students eager to help students learn from community organizations, collaborate on projects to assist them and engage in group and individual reflections.
