CCL Ambassador Duties

Knowledge of CCL Programs & Opportunities:

Develop a basic understanding of all the programs and fellowships offered by the CCL. While you are not expected to know every detail, you should be prepared to answer questions about CCL opportunities and guide peers to the appropriate resources or staff members for more detailed information.

Communication:

Develop and implement strategies to increase the visibility of CCL programs and opportunities. This includes creating and sharing content, conducting outreach activities, and representing the CCL at various events to engage with the Rice community.

  • Advertise specific opportunities through colleges and other appropriate mechanisms (social media, student orgs, etc.)
  • Speak at informational fairs and sessions about program experiences and benefits.
Mobilization:

Actively recruit and motivate students to participate in CCL programs. Ambassadors will identify and pursue opportunities to connect with diverse student groups, encouraging broad and inclusive participation.

  • Event Development & Support: Assist in planning, promoting, and executing CCL events. Ambassadors are expected to attend CCL events and provide support to each other, as well as staff, in organizing and managing events throughout the academic year.
Assessment:

CCL Ambassadors will gather and analyze feedback from students about their experiences with CCL programs. They will use tools such as surveys and focus groups to collect qualitative data. This data will be used to improve programs and to ensure that student voices are a central part of program design.

Collaboration:

Work closely with other CCL Ambassadors and CCL staff to achieve the goals of the program.

  • Direct Program Support: At the start of each semester, CCL staff will present program priorities and identify support needs. Ambassadors will form small groups based on their interests and experiences to assist with these priorities. Responsibilities may include organizing and hosting informational sessions, organizing program events, and participating in interview committees.
Meetings:
  • Weekly Cohort Meetings: Ambassadors will organize (on a rotating basis) and attend weekly cohort meetings. These meetings will be both informational and workshop-style, allowing the cohort to provide input on shaping CCL programs and events. Meetings will be scheduled at a mutually agreed-upon time, with most taking place in person, though some may be held virtually.
