Marshall Scholarship

The Marshall Scholarship fund young Americans of high ability to study for a graduate degree in the United Kingdom. The commission funding is government supported and the Marshall supports study in any UK institution. There are partner institutions that provide some funding and additional support for Marshall Scholars. In general, they encourage applicants to identify an excellent program of study from the Research Excellence Framework and choose institutions that are aligned holistically with the candidate’s goals. Scholarships support 2 years (in some cases 1 and 3) of graduate study. Students identify 2 potential plans for programs (a combination of Masters, DPhil, institutions, etc.).

Mitchell Scholarship

The George J. Mitchell Scholarship is an award for U.S. citizens sponsored by the US-Ireland Alliance. Named in honor of the former U.S. Senator's pivotal contribution to the Northern Ireland peace process, the Mitchell Scholarship is designed to introduce and connect future American leaders to the island of Ireland, while recognizing and fostering academic excellence, leadership, and a commitment to public service. Emphasis is on demonstrations of and ambitions for leadership roles. Students are funded for one academic year post-graduate program in any institution in Ireland or Northern Ireland.

Rhodes Scholarship

The Rhodes Scholarship is a highly selective fellowship program for high achieving students with exceptional leadership potential who will contribute to the Oxford experience and beyond. Rhodes scholars are funded for 2 years (3 on occasion) of study at Oxford. Students are not discouraged from pursuing an additional Bachelors degree, but most often choose Masters or Doctoral programs.

Churchill Scholarship

The Winston Churchill Foundation awards scholarships that fund a one year graduate degree for a graduating (or recently graduated) seniors in STEM programs at Cambridge University. Only select United States universities are invited to submit nominations, so it is a highly competitive opportunity. Recently, the foundation has also opened a scholarship in Science Policy, the Kanders Scholarship which has a separate application process.

Michel David-Weill Scholarship

The Michel David-Weill Scholarship carries a monetary value of $80,000 and covers the cost of tuition and living expenses during a two-year master’s program at Sciences Po. Only select institutions are invited to nominate a candidate for consideration each year.
 

Yenching Academy

The Yenching Academy of Peking University builds bridges between China and the world through an interdisciplinary master’s program in China Studies with concentrations in Politics and International Relations, Philosophy and Religion, Literature and Culture, Law and Society, History and Archaeology, and Economics and Management
 

Fulbright Study

Fulbright Study: The Fulbright Scholarship provides financial support for a program of study at universities in select countries. All United Kingdom Fulbright opportunities are for graduate study in selected partner institutions (2 awards are open for institutions without a partnership). Other countries have Study fellowships (along with Research and ETA grants).
