The Moody Civic Immersion program is open to ALL incoming students, including first years and transfer students. No prior knowledge or experience with civic engagement or service-learning is necessary. No registration fees. Meals, accommodation, and on-site transportation are provided at no cost to participants.

The Moody Civic Immersion program is offered in two different modalities: two in-person weeks and a virtual week. This allows us to provide an in-person and virtual experience for students from a diverse range of backgrounds and geographical locations to meet and build community. Students participating in person will live and learn as cohorts together in Houston for the week, while students participating during the virtual week will be virtually immersed in similar programs and activities. Moody Civic Immersion is led by current Rice students eager to help new students learn from community organizations, collaborate on projects to assist them, and engage in group and individual reflections. Students will be able to connect with incoming peers, begin to build community in their soon-to-be home, and learn about opportunities that will be available to them through the CCL and beyond!
