Is quarantining getting you down? Looking to take action? Us too! Especially when it comes to our legendary summer Urban Immersion program. The CCL staff and student leaders have been working diligently to adapt our programming so we can continue to safely engage incoming first years and transfer students on civic engagement principles within the new parameters of the times. We are excited to introduce Civic Owlets: an entirely remote opportunity for our newest Rice Owls (Owlets, if you will) to engage with each other, staff/faculty, student leaders, and community partners working on pressing and interrelated social issues such as voter rights, racial justice, and climate action.

Help us spread the word to new students that they can still meet their classmates and learn about Houston through the lens of social justice and meaningful action this summer with the CCL’s Civic Owlets program! Remote programming also means completely open-access: every incoming student is welcome, no application needed. Sign-ups are open now for sessions starting July 6th and July 20th.
