Houston Volunteer Cohort

Civic Leadership Competencies: Values, Beliefs, and Assumptions, Reflection, Diversity of Communities and Cultures

The Houston Volunteer Cohort (HVC) is a new pilot program for Spring 2018. HVC is an opportunity for students to spend a semester volunteering with a community partner in their interest area while learning about critical service. The CCL arranges meaningful, semester long volunteer opportunities wherein students will work with one organization weekly for the duration of the semester.

Students are expected to volunteer with their organization 3 hours per week throughout the Spring semester. Additionally, cohorts will meet for one hour every other week for reflection and sessions on critical service, social issues, and working in the non-profit sector, led by a staff member in the CCL.

Cost to student: all community partner sites are either accessible by public transportation or transportation cost will be covered by the CCL.

Info sessions are on Friday, January 12th from 2:00pm-3:00pm in HUMA 119 and Thursday, January 18th from 12:00pm-1:00pm in HUMA 328.

Applications will be available early on in the Spring semester and due on Monday, January 22nd by 11:59pm.
