Rotary Community Service Scholarship

To promote and recognize community service by Rice students, the Rotary Club of West U has offered a scholarship in the spring of each year since 1999 to a continuing undergraduate student at Rice University.  The current scholarship amount is $3000.  An important criterion for selection is the applicant's record of community service outside the Rice campus community that embodies the Rotary motto of "Service above Self".  The recipient must have at least one more full-time semester at Rice after the current spring semester before graduation and maintain a minimum GPA of 3.2.  He/she must also have graduated from high school no later than August 2015.  Finalists will be interviewed and the winner asked to attend a Rotary meeting to accept the award and give a brief talk on his/her service activities.  The scholarship money will be remitted directly to the recipient's account at Rice.

Information on the West University Rotary Club including its current service projects may be found on its web site (www.westurotary.org).
