How to Apply

In order to apply for the Loewenstern Fellowship, please complete and submit the following documents:

  • Loewenstern Application (required for all applicants).
  • Language Assessment (required for all applicants)
  • Foreign Language Evaluation (required for students who do not have a minimum of formal coursework at CLIC-263 and are applying for placements in Latin America and Asia. Exceptions include all Africa and Europe placements and civic research placements in India)  The Foreign Language Evaluation must be completed by an evaluator. Language evaluators must be fluent or native speakers of the language they are evaluating and may be neither students nor family members.  It is the student's responsibility to identify an evaluator, request his or her assistance, and complete a formal evaluation prior to the application deadline.

All documents above with the exception of the Foreign Language Evaluation should be submitted on the Center for Civic Leadership Apply Now page. Once you have completed the profile page, you will be able to access the page to submit your application materials and recommenders' contact information.

Applicants should not make arrangements (purchase plane tickets, pay agency program fees, arrange housing, etc.) until they have received notification of acceptance as a Loewenstern Fellow and have met with their advisor from the Center for Civic Leadership. 

Application Deadline:  Completed applications are due Friday, October 27th at 11:59 PM, and students will be notified of their status by early November. A mandatory meeting for all Loewenstern Fellows will be announced following selection notifications.
